Mantris / Economic Optimization / TCG Timeline
We are pleased to greet you in this month of October for a new TAKE NEWS!
After a year of adventure, exploration of this new world, and creative work on Cross The Ages, it's time to take stock, make adjustments, and correct certain aspects of our game in preparation for the next phase of the adventure. Please take the time to read this article carefully, as we will be addressing critical topics and major changes in the game's economy in the coming weeks.
Pack Opening and Online Store Launch:
Gladiators, it is our pleasure to confirm that you will be able to open your Season 2 packs starting from October 25th at 4 pm UTC. To do so, please visit the "Loot" tab in your application at the specified time.
In the shop, on the same date, the Arkhante Season 1 collection will be replaced by the first Mythic Series from Mantris, namely Hassan.
As a reminder, here is how the Mythic Series and the Permanent Series work:
Mythic Series System:
During the Mantris season, you will only find $3 boosters (individually or in your desired quantity), unlike the Arkhante season (discontinuation of Neo/Omega, Super, etc. chests).
The drop rates for cards in the boosters are as follows:
There will be 2 types of booster pack series:
- The Mythic Series, with a total of 6, featuring one of the 6 mythic cards of the season for one month.
- The Permanent Series, which will include the cards from the Mythic Series over time.
The Mythic Series :
For one month, the Mythic Series will showcase one of the 6 Mantris Mythic cards. If you purchase this pack and are fortunate enough to receive a Mythic card, it will always be the one currently featured.
Once a Mythic Series is concluded, the only way to obtain it is through the Permanent Collection.
Here is the order of the Mythic Series:
1️⃣ : Hassan
2️⃣ : Arhax
3️⃣ : Shakti
4️⃣ : Pollen
5️⃣ : Ordinator
6️⃣ : Sassaki
The Permanent Series:
In the shop, after the third month, you will find the permanent booster pack for the Mantris collection, which will gradually incorporate the 6 Mythic Series over time. Once a Mythic Series is completed, the only way to obtain that specific Mythic card is by purchasing a booster from the Permanent Series.
The Permanent Series will be introduced after the third month, starting with the first two Mythics (Hassan and Arhax). Then, each month, it will include a new Mythic until the end of the season.
In the third month, the booster pack will only contain the possibility of obtaining the Mythics Hassan and Arhax. The Mythic card Shakti is reserved for the ongoing Mythic Series.
In the fourth month, the booster pack will include the chance to obtain the Mythics Hassan, Arhax, and Shakti exclusively. The Mythic Pollen is reserved for and currently featured in the Mythic Pollen Series.
And so on...
This booster pack can only be minted once all 6 Mythics are included. If you purchase this booster on the Permanent Series that contains 3 Mythics but open it when there are 5, the cards will be those from the set with 5 Mythics because it updates automatically with each addition.
Crafting of Mantris cards:
See you in November to kick off your first Mantris card enhancements, awakenings, and fusion! This gives you time to open your packs, gather as many Trisel as possible, explore the Series system before embarking on your journey to achieve S ranks!
Mantris Shards will be combinable at the same time, allowing you to craft the combo card of Lancer, Knight, and Tanker.
New ERA S2E1:
The new Era will be available the same week as the crafting, ensuring the creation of a consistent leaderboard. The system has undergone slight modifications compared to Season 1, and the details will be provided at the time of the patch.
Airdrop of SR and Shards for the Mantris season:
See you in January for the first airdrops (SR and Shards) of the Mantris season, with the aim of stabilizing the economy and addressing multi-account functionality. Detailed explanations will be provided in the rest of the article.
Before we begin, we want to express our gratitude for the warm reception you've given to the Adventure mode. It has had the desired effect on player engagement, especially in onboarding new players. This is a positive step for the future, and please understand that this was only the first stage. The Ascension mode and Act 2: Mantris will be the next additions to this mode.
We have also noticed many concerns regarding Trisel farming, questions about "Eternal" cards, their purpose, functionality, and their role in relation to NFTs. These concerns are valid. Several weeks of the "Adventure" mode have confirmed that it's time to launch the second phase of our economy to ensure our day-one players and investors maximum longevity and the proper maintenance of the value of their assets. Additionally, it allows players who may not initially be interested in NFTs to have fun and thrive, increasing the likelihood that they'll want to get involved.
It's important to remember that the game is in constant evolution, both in terms of gameplay and the economy. You are experiencing these changes alongside us as we build the game. That's why we want to move forward with transparency, explaining the changes as simply as possible. Moreover, no game incorporating Web3 technology has yet found "the recipe." While we don't claim to have found it, we continue to advance with this vision of a scalable web 2 video game on web 3.
Certain details, such as rates or quantities related to future changes, are not set in stone yet. We prefer not to share specific numbers until they are finalized. It's also possible that we may revisit past statements several weeks or months later if they prove to be irrelevant. For the longevity of the project, we need to evolve and adapt. Not adapting would be a mistake, and we strive to offer the best in the field.
Naming of card types:
Due to numerous feedback, including from new players, there was significant confusion regarding the various types of cards (including in our last attempt), their names, and their functionalities. Therefore, our first step focused on giving them distinct names to clearly identify them over time and across our games. Here are the changes:
Eternal → Static
Digital → Flex
NFT → Eternal
Eternal Cards (Web 3):
You've known them since the beginning of our adventure; they are your most precious treasures, reflecting your choices, time investment, and transition to the world of digital ownership. We have chosen to rename the term NFT as "Eternal" for all these reasons.
Flex Cards (Web 2.5):
The "Flex" cards (formerly Digital) represent an intermediary status between the traditional world of video gaming and the upcoming world of digital ownership. These are the cards you purchase in the game's store through booster packs.
Static Cards (Web 2):
You discovered a new type of card in the Adventure mode, obtained as end-of-game rewards: the "Static" cards. This card type is dedicated to players who do not wish to have NFTs and cannot be transformed into an "Eternal" card under any circumstances.
Note that this allows us to provide new players with the opportunity to play for free with a wider variety of cards since these cards can be given to players without impacting the economy.
Process and operation of different types of cards:
"Flex" cards can only have one state: the standard version of the card.
When initiating the awakening, you will need to choose between "Eternal" or "Static." This choice is permanent.
Additionally, a "Flex" card cannot be kept in this format for more than one year. At the end of its minting session, if the "Flex" card has not been transformed into "Eternal," it will automatically be converted to "Static." As a result, all Arkhante "Flex" cards will become "Static" in March 2024.
Off-season crafting of combo cards will always be possible. However, if you want the "Eternal" format of a card that is two seasons removed, you will need to awaken your cards to the "Eternal" format or convert your standard "Flex" cards to the "Eternal" format before the one-year period associated with its season.
Therefore, the only possible formats for alternative cards and combos will be "Eternal" or "Static."
Finally, as the "Flex" format is an intermediate and original status, no card can be intentionally transformed into "Flex."
You can only obtain "Flex" cards through the in-game store by purchasing booster packs or directly in the game if you have the appropriate relic. They are not transferable between accounts.
They are also obtainable through the game's competitive scene.
"Static" cards serve as the entry point for new players. They make it easy to access certain cards to start the adventure, test the game, and progress in Free To Play mode.
They are not transferable between accounts.
Since the "Static" format is a final status, it is impossible to transform a "Static" card into an "Eternal" card.
You can obtain "Static" cards by simply playing the game. Starting from Act 2 of the Adventure mode, they can be crafted at the same cost as "Flex" and "Eternal" cards, but with a different Trisel dedicated to Web 2.
"Eternal" cards are the key to a complete Cross The Ages experience. In addition to being on the blockchain and fully owned by you, you can trade, sell, lend, and later even rent them. They reflect the value of the time and money you have invested in the game over time.
Following the first year of Cross The Ages Trading Card Game's existence, we noticed an issue with the dilution due to the free and unlimited distribution of "Flex" cards from common to rare. The first solution involves the "Static" cards, as they cannot be transformed into "Eternal."
The second solution is to maintain an incentive throughout gameplay and allow every player, if they wish, to purchase a relic to obtain "Flex" cards instead of "Static" as game rewards.
For your information, we will fully refund all relics that were active between October 4th and October 25th, coinciding with the release of Mantris.
Here is a non-exhaustive and final list of the planned benefits of relics:
- To have more slots for unlocking reward boosters. By default, you have 1 unlocker and 2 storage slots, which can be increased to up to 4 unlockers and 8 storage slots.
- To automatically initiate the chest unlocking process from the storage space even when the application is closed. An unlocked chest will automatically go into the chest inventory.
- To obtain "Flex" reward cards instead of "Static" and thus acquire cards up to Mythic by playing. Note that this effect only occurs on certain cards, such as those from reward boosters, daily and weekly missions, and events...
- To benefit from an additional amount of energy.
- To simplify the acquisition of stars in Adventure mode.
- To speed up animations for faster gameplay (excluding PvP).
- To queue dungeons to avoid returning to the main menu, especially useful when combined with the auto mode for automatically farming dungeons.
- Get dungeons in queue so as not to return to the main menu, being more interesting if combined with auto mode to automatically farm your dungeons.
- To receive bonus rewards, especially in Trisel.
- To enjoy exclusive discounts.
The initial implementation of relics is planned for November, and some benefits will arrive later.
We have identified two significant issues with multi-accounts:
The first issue is the ease of collecting "bonus" Trisel without constraints, especially through Adventure mode and missions in large quantities.
The second issue is the complicated account management for the user, particularly for SR cards and airdrop management.
Therefore, in January, we will initially offer you the option, and later as a preparation for the TGE (Token Generation Event), make it mandatory: the merging of your accounts.
We will allow a one-time merger of your different accounts under a single KYC (Know Your Customer) identity. You will have a single account that combines elements from various accounts, including:
- Your CTA Tokens
- Your CTA Token cap (up to the TGE)
- Your Free Mint
- Your Free Anim
- "Flex" cards
After this merger, you will also be able to open multiple S1 packs on a single account and thereby increase your CTA Tokens cap until the TGE (Token Generation Event) if you wish.
Please note that the perks will be adjusted accordingly due to this change.
We aim to standardize the Trisel earnings across accounts so that whether you play 100 games on one account or 10 games on 10 accounts, you will earn the same amount of Trisel.
This means that the "bonus" earnings, whether they are one-time or recurring, are being removed in favor of an increase in constant earnings.
Previously, you earned little Trisel at the end of a match (making the final score less significant) in exchange for larger gains from daily, weekly, event, general missions, as well as in the story and adventure mode dungeons.
Now, we are normalizing these earnings and restricting them primarily to Ranked and Normal PvP Arena matches by default. Through relics, you will also be able to obtain Trisel in reward chests, missions (daily and weekly), and adventure mode dungeons.
New Operation of SR Airdrops Starting in January:
The quantity of CTA tokens in your account will determine the number of SR cards you can unlock.
From now on, you will need to have a certain number of Victory Points to unlock your SR cards instead of completing weekly missions.
Victory Points are earned by winning in various game modes.
Mint Passes contribute to the number of Victory Points required to validate the Airdrop to make farming them easier.
The first SR card Airdrop of Mantris in January will be based on this new system. We will keep you informed with all the data and quantities in an upcoming article.
After several weeks of analysis regarding the indirect sale of Trisel and despite our simulations on implementing activation fees, we have come to the simple conclusion that our attempts to prevent it will never be successful because there will always be a way to circumvent it, except by encroaching on the individual freedom of your assets (which goes against the concept of NFT) or by removing any system of progression (and, therefore, time investment).
In conclusion, we have decided to regulate the direct sale of Trisel.
The sale of Trisel will be open through mintable bundles in limited quantities, provided that you are KYC-compliant, have CTA Tokens, and the quantity mintable per week depends on the Mint Pass(es) on the account. Without a Mint Pass, it will not be possible to mint Trisel before the TGE. In the future, this market will be open if the demand is significant enough, but Mint Passes will be the preferred means of minting Trisel.
The bundles created will be on an address linked to your account but solely owned by Cross The Ages. It will be impossible to send your bundles to an address of your choice or cancel a Trisel listing. Cross The Ages will automatically determine the price based on supply and demand as well as the quantities on the market.
You cannot buy Trisel and then resell it. When you purchase Trisel, the bundle is automatically "burned," and your account is credited with the corresponding amount. The principle is fundamentally the same as Pranah, except that for Trisel, you are the seller!
Purchases are restricted to CTA accounts (bundles are not available on the marketplace).
The Trisel you can sell must be earned during the week, for example (the numbers are not representative): thanks to my Mint Pass, I have the right to sell 10k Trisel; for this, I must collect the 10k Trisel during the same week, and at the end of that week, the account is reset.
The more Mint Passes you have on the account, the more Trisel you can put up for sale.
As a result, we will not impose activation fees in Trisel. However, no card traded in P2P or sold via offers will be craftable for a period of 3 months.
The implementation of this rule will occur when the crafting of Mantris cards is opened.
This waiting period will not apply in the case of a sale at the market price on the marketplace or between accounts under the same KYC.
It should be noted that this waiting period and the rest of the sales system are primarily in place to prevent market manipulation. As mentioned earlier, our intention is not to stifle NFT trading (we could have simply blocked crafting, for example) but rather to regulate the market.
In conclusion, here is a timeline of the changes:
Starting from October 25th:
- Removal of Trisel earnings from missions and Adventure mode; the only way to earn Trisel is through PvP (Player vs. Player). Trisel earnings (along with the daily cap) are increased to compensate for the removal of mission and other bonus gains (reward chest conversion/adventure).
- Enforcement of web3 restrictions making KYC mandatory to access it from the game (minting, NFT crafting, etc.).
For the month of November:
- Implementation of the relic system
- Availability of Tanker, Lancer, & Knight cards (Mantris shards)
- Crafting of Mantris cards
- Ranked mode with slight adjustments to it and the meta
For the month of December:
- Phase 2 of Heroes' Legacy
- In-game winter event
- Ascension mode
Month of January:
- Option to merge your accounts and new SR system
- Gameplay changes with the integration of Mantris
- Act 2: Mantris for the Adventure mode
- Introduction of the Trisel player-to-player sales system
- After all these changes, the current Trisel will become the Eternal Trisel, and we will introduce the Static Trisel for crafting "Static" cards. We will provide more details on the different stages in the upcoming issues of TAKE NEWS.
For the more technical and curious players, we wanted to offer you a look at the game's economy through a diagram!
This provides a complete overview up to the TGE (Token Generation Event).
Stay tuned for the next TAKE NEWS very soon!
